Connect to the Spirit of Place (Genius Loci) through meditation and drawing
Create a series of phenomenological maps that archive your experience of home.
Learn to identify and differentiate the causes for the “felt sense” of space and place.
Learn the Historical and Theoretical context for phenomenal place making in both Eastern and Western traditions. We will be exploring the work of Bachelard, Harries, and Thoreau in both theory and practice.
This course is designed for:
Anyone who lives in a home and wants to learn how to create a home that reflects who they are.
Anyone who works with architects, designers, and developers and wants to discover what the place wants in order to inform and elevate what you, the client, will build/design.
Professional architects, developers, realtors, and designers who want to expand their practice and learn more about place making traditions that are not taught in traditional architecture and design programs.

About the Teacher:
Jessica Kung Dreyfus is a global thought leader, artist, designer, educator, author, and mother. She has exhibited her work internationally at museums and has collaborated with some of the most influential investors and inventors in the world to develop and communicate vision in built form. Her work straddles disciplines as it explores and illuminates the invisible and inescapable topography between site and psyche, body and building.
She received her B.A. cum laude in Architecture from Yale University and her M.F.A. from California College of the Arts. From 2010-2012 she completed a 450 day silent meditation retreat. Her latest creative endeavor is the launch of Make Conscious - a studio practice and learning platform that merges the contemplative and the creative. She is currently working on her upcoming book, Your Phenomenal World, a guidebook to consciousness for creatives.
