An Integral Pedagogy

  • The expansion begins through reengaging with genius. We will become well acquainted with the three types of genius, as coined in Ancient Rome. Genius, genius gens, and genius loci. Before genius became limited to the domain of a single human’s brilliance, genius referred to the spirit guides of each person. Genius gens referred to the ancestral spirit guides and consciousness, and genius loci are the spirits of the land. Through close listening to the genii of ourselves, our lineage, and our earth we can elevate our consciousness at this critical time and co-create a larger cosmology that brings in empathic and humble awareness of the invisible forces at work on this planet.

  • Over the course of 30 days we will work to listen, transform, and activate each of the 10 levels of consciousness. Soul, emotion, thought, energy, breath, body, aura, resource, environment, and cosmos all become both the tools and the object to be worked on. As we observe how they exist, we look for their edge conditions and work in the space between, where everything happens. As one edge moves, so the other responds, and we find that we are both the conductor and the orchestra. Our simultaneous engagement of both the fields of knowing and the faculties of sense generates the process of conscious creation and phenomenal design.

  • The tools we will use to navigate the 10 levels of consciousness are an integral pedagogy bringing together global wisdom traditions. Sources include Plato’s academy, automatic drawing as practiced by Hilma af Klint, and the lost traditions of Architectural ornament design. Contemplative tools include the practices of qi gong and geomancy from the Taoist tradition, stillness and analytic meditations from the Buddhist tradition, and mind/body movement from the Yogic tradition.

  • Decolonization and meditation are rarely within the same sentence much less intertwined into a conscious conversation. Make Conscious fearlessly takes on the thorny and uncomfortable corners of our psyches and how they are intertwined with topics as seemingly overwhelming as unconscious bias and institutional racism.

“Your Phenomenal World course provides an abundance of theory, but is fundamentally PRACTICAL. I’ve learned skills for sustaining creativity in my various endeavors, and a method for crucial integration with my passion for spiritual work. It is a great mix of structure and fluidity, principled but non-dogmatic, universal, and personal. I highly recommend this for anyone who longs to activate their innate creativity in this world in a responsible way.”
